The list of concerns speaks for itself; smart devices that are attached to one another and are always listening to concerned consumers. Most everyone now also has a constantly listening assistant wherever they go on their phones. My family had a break in and a lot was stolen. More interestingly, a couple of days later our bank accounts were hacked. How? The police suspected it was our Alexa, that was listening to sensitive information to be able to hack into the accounts. Ever since we disabled our Alexa and the Google Home my friend gave me I haven’t set up yet — and frankly, don’t plan to.

There seems to be a big concern about the kind of privacy people tend to care about; trends throughout this research indicate that people care about their privacy, but this article goes more in depth about what kinds of situations people feel comfortable giving away their information.

It’s interesting how people tend to often ignore the privacy policies but when presented with specific kinds of information, choose to opt out of some of the things they’ve already agreed to in regular life. People agree to much more than they think yet tend to speak more about, “the darker side of personal information trade-offs.”
