It’s revealing that our DNA is so powerful and yet we give it away so quickly. We don’t really ever think about how much DNA we leave behind. Paying close attention to one of the examples in the article, which reveals that the Family Tree DNA company let law enforcement access its’ database makes me suspicious of the DNA my entire family gave to Ancestry.com. I’m not a criminal, but my DNA is what makes everyone special and individual. Those who have registered their information with 23andMe, Ancestry.com, or any other various DNA companies are at risk for having that information being accessed.
